I have been making portraits of our two children every weekend for the last few years. Some are very casual or experimental, some much more straight forward, directed and proper portraits. It's a little about me but more about them in the end. These eight images - four of each - are a sample of more recent portraits that interest me. The advance of time, their fleeting micro-expressions, the play of light and time across their faces is exciting but also very humbling.

I am a portrait and professional sports photographer as well as a professor of photography. I live in Portland, OR in the United States and take inspiration from identity, the passing of time, light and form.
