Nikita is an eight-year old Catholic, Irish Traveller, who lives with her family in roadside camp near Cashel. She has 7 siblings. This is the day of her First Communion. The family’s funds are quite limited as her dad does not have a job and there are many mouths to feed. Teresa, Nikita’s mother, spent many hours fashioning her handmade outfit. Teresa helped her dress and put on make-up. Her eldest sister helped to get the younger ones ready. The images in this project depict Nikita with her mother and siblings on one of the most important days in her young life.
